Larry Brown, MA, PT, GDAMT, FAAOMPT, MMPTAA, ATC

Larry completed his undergraduate and graduate studies with an emphasis in Sports Medicine and Exercise Physiology form San Diego State University. In 1978, he was awarded a Certificate in Athletic Training by the National Athletic Trainers Association and in 1981 earned his Certificate in Physical Therapy from Children's Hospital of Los Angeles School of Physical Therapy. Larry obtained the prestigious Graduate Diploma in Advanced Manipulative Physiotherapy from the University of South Australia in 1994. From 1982-1987, Larry served as Director of Sports Medicine for Scripps Clinic and research Foundation.

During this time, he also was an assistant Athletic Trainer for the San Diego Chargers Football Club and Physical Therapy Consultant to the San Diego Padres Baseball Club. From 1987-1991, Larry directed the Palo Alto Medical Foundation's Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine Center and was Special Physical Therapy Consultant to the San Francisco Giants Baseball Club. In 1991, Larry founded COAST Physical Therapy Specialists to bring a new standard of orthopaedic and sports physical therapy care to the growing Ventura County.

In addition to his clinical background, Larry has taught numerous courses in Manual Therapy, PNF and Locomotor Biomechanics throughout the US and Australia, and has published several research and review papers. Larry is also a Full Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists and a Member of the Manipulative Physiotherapists Association of Australia.

Balancing his life, Larry spends his pleasure time with his wife Jennifer and their children as well as playing tennis, walking the dogs and mountain biking.

David Musgrove, PT, CSCS, COMT

David has lived in Ventura County since 1962, originally from Oxnard. He obtained his B. S. degree in Physical Therapy from Cal State University Northridge in 1990. Since graduating, he has devoted his career to the treatment of Musculoskeletal and Orthopedic problems, and Post-Surgical Orthopedics. Prior to his graduation, David worked for 4 years as an aide at St. John's Regional Medical Center and continued working as a Physical Therapist in acute care for four years after graduating.

David has focused his evaluation and management strategies using the Australian Approach and the Maitland techniques. In November 2008, he received a Certificate in Orthopedic Manual Therapy (COMT) from the Maitland Australian Physiotherapy Seminars (MAPS). After taking numerous postgraduate Manual Therapy courses and receiving his Certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) in August 1999, David has become very proficient in active exercise approaches to complement his overall approach to rehabilitation.

In addition to his Manual Therapy and Exercise and Strength experience, David has more than 12 years working with work related and industrial injuries. He has spent a good portion of his career rehabilitating injured workers including initial evaluation and management as well as doing Functional Capacity Testing to certify that the worker is ready for return to work activity.

Through the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, David has spent 7 years as a volunteer member of the Ventura County Search and Rescue Ojai Team. He holds an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification, and has received a Citizens Medal of Merit from the Ventura County Sheriffs Department for a life saving rescue in 2007.

As an outdoor and exercise enthusiast, he enjoys surfing, cycling, running, camping, hiking, and rock climbing.

Leo Kiralla, DPT

Leo grew up in the Pasadena area and has always had a love for sports, the outdoors, and understanding the science behind both the human body and nature. While attending Westmont College in Santa Barbara Leo played baseball and first became interested in physical therapy as he was rehabbing his own sports injuries. Leo graduated with a BS in Kinesiology in 2008 and worked as a Strength and Conditioning Coach prior to going back to school to receive his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Chapman University in 2012.

After working in Northern California for two years Leo is excited to be back home and working with a team of talented and experienced clinicians at Coast Physical Therapy. Leo enjoys spending time at the beach, hiking, and traveling with his wife Laura, and sons Eli and Jackson.

John Sta Maria, DPT

John is a compassionate physical therapist who earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Chapman University after completing his Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science at Long Beach State University. During his time at Chapman, he developed a strong foundation in rehabilitation techniques, evidence-based practices, and patient-centered care and has treated patients in hospitals, outpatient clinics, and rehabilitation centers. His expertise spans across treating a range of conditions, from orthopedic injuries to neurological disorders.

In his free time, John enjoys exploring the outdoors through hiking and he is an avid weightlifter, regularly engaging in strength training to maintain his own physical well-being. This personal interest in health and fitness allows him to better understand the needs and goals of his patients who seek to improve their strength, mobility, and overall physical health. With his genuine passion for helping others, John is a dedicated physical therapist who goes above and beyond for his patients. Patients can trust that John will not only help them regain function and mobility but also inspire them to live a healthy and fulfilling life.

Jessica Alfaro, Office Manager/Billing

Jessica joined COAST Physical Therapy Specialists in 2010 and has moved up the ranks from medical receptionist to billing/insurance specialist. She is responsible for patient account information, insurance and patient billing, and collections. She also supervises the front desk activity to ensure there is smooth transition of information gathering and billing activity. She will be a delight to work with.
